Kitchen
Two big Christmas gifts were a new set of pots & pans and a fun wall pot rack on which to display them. It looks great on this previously empty wall in my kitchen. I'm also enjoying cooking with the new cookware - just hope I can keep them looking this shiny!!
Vintage Travel Bedroom
A number of new things in here. First is the completion of the decoration which inspired the concept of the room.On a trip to San Diego and subsequently, a visit to The Hotel Coronado, I discovered some great vintage luggage tag stickers. They had them displayed on stacks of old luggage which looked awesome. Building upon that idea generated the vintage travel theme I eventually created in this room. And finally, a few years later, the luggage part is complete.
I found the larger piece of luggage on Craig's List. The smaller "carry-on" piece was a Christmas gift from my sister; but it has a great story. While they were on a trip to Savannah, GA, in November, a guy was selling random estate sale stuff out of the back of a truck. While he was actually trying to sell the random batteries or whatever inside the luggage, my sister inquired about buying the luggage and finagled a great deal. Once we got the two pieces together, we discovered they were an exact match! We decided the guy must not have known what he had; it is a relatively old piece of luggage and is in excellent condition.
The picture isn't great; but this is a neat jewelry-type box with a vintage map all around. Christmas gift from my aunt Judy and it was a perfect addition to my writing desk.
And finally, I made a new french bulletin board for this room using these great international postage stamp magnets. Shown without the pictures from my international travels, which will be displayed here.
